The Ilizarov technique, developed by Professor Gavriil Ilizarov, is an advanced limb reconstruction method based on the principle of gradual bone regeneration. It is widely used for deformity correction, limb length discrepancy, non-unions, bone loss, and complex orthopaedic conditions.

The technique uses specially designed circular rings connected with wires and rods around the affected limb. Following surgery, gradual correction is performed at a controlled rate of approximately 1 mm per day, allowing natural regeneration of bone and soft tissues while improving alignment, stability, and function.
